With Mozilla 1.4 RC1 or RC2, the toolbar for the 'Create new message' form gets twice as high than it should be, presumably due to the little arrows of the 'Attach file' and 'Save' buttons.

Is there any way to avoid this, or a newer version I'm not aware of? Pinball is stil the coolest of all themes...

I'm using Mozilla 1.4 RC2. Is there any way to turn on the home icon in the Navigation toolbar as is shown in the picture at the top of this page? I don't see it. The only way I can get a home icon is to turn on the Personal toolbar, which seems like a waste.

Pinball is a truely beautiful theme.

There is only one thing I can think of that woudl make it so good that I would ditch the default skin classic skin.

When you mouseover a toolbar button in Pinball the icon changes. The classic theme does a little more, the full target area of the button is outlined as a rectangle, you can really see the button area that much more clearly and know exactly where to hit out of the corner of your eye, and needing pay far less attention.

(I quite like the way in classic that the drop down menu for the Back button has its own target space clearly indicated but I could do without it).

Thanks

Toolbar brightness:

The Firebird version of this theme adapts to your system colors. Mozilla Pinball overrides system colors.

---

Mozilla 1.5 nightly build compatiblity:

There will be no update before the 1.5 beta release (which is scheduled for the end of this week according to MozillaZine.org).

---

Netscape compatibility:

This theme is not compatible with Netscape 7.1. It will appear to work in Netscape 7.1, but most of Netscape's user interface elements which Mozilla doesn't have will be incorrectly skinned or missing (for example: the sidebar tab/button which opens and closes the sidebar). This may render some of Netscape's functionality completely inaccessible. There may be other non-cosmetic problems.

I agree with many people here who say this is the best theme for Mozilla. It's very elgant, yet not boring with its variety of colors. And it has that sleek silver color to it, which I love! The only thing I wish was added was a bigger version of the icons. I've been d/ling lots of themes lately and came across someone who offered both a medium/small size icons d/l, and a large icon d/l. If you can do this, I would be very much appreciative, thanks. :)

Hi Johannes,

Pinball is by far the best mozilla theme I know!

To make it my all time favourite, it would be helpful to have pinball support for the enigmail PGP mail plugin (just a few icons derived from the existing standard mail icons + something that looks remotely like a padlock). Shouldn't be too much effort once you know where to add the icons.

Do you plan support for Enigmail or could you provide a little support for others doing so?

I recently started using MozillaMail under linux to see
that this is supported by PinBall as well. This theme

I'm switching often between 1.4 (stable) and 1.5 (testing). Used to be that if I hooked into my default profile with 1.5, it would screw up the Pinball setting for 1.4. Now, with the new version, I can't set Pinball for 1.4 *at all*, it's disappeared; and running my default profile in 1.5 shows the same screwed up Modern display that I used to see in 1.4.

I assume this is a fundamental Moz problem, and not a bug on Johannes' part, but still: Sux.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030917

[52] Submitted by: Johannes Friday September 19th 2003

mcow,

Part of the CSS syntax has changed between Mozilla 1.4 and 1.5b, so they use different "skinVersion"-IDs and therefore 1.4 themes and 1.5b themes are necessarily incompatible with the other Mozilla version. You're not supposed to use one profile for different Mozilla versions anyway...

WEJ,

a final word on Netscape 7.1 compatibility: The differences between Modern (on which Pinball is based) for Mozilla and Netscape are real, I'm not imagining them. Some of Netscape's widgets definitely aren't in the Mozilla theme. If you don't mind that and are willing to take the risk of other instabilities, I won't stop you. I only ask that you don't tell others that Pinball is compatible with Netscape 7.1, or even that it works "flawlessly" with it, because that is certainly not correct. Feel free to diff Netscape's and Mozilla's modern.jar to see what you're missing. There have been quite nasty problems (zombie processes) due to files missing from a theme-JAR, so there is very real trouble potential if you mismatch themes.

This page doesn't contain the most recent copy of Pinball-fx yet, since Firefox 0.9 hasn't yet been released. You can get Pinball-fx 0.9 for Firefox 0.9 rc from however. We'll probably have to release a 0.9.1 or 0.9.2 for Firefox 0.9 to fix any remaining bugs.

Note also that the first time you try to get Pinball working you have to open a new browser window once you've selected Pinball.

OK, about the Pinball for Mozilla thing:

I think that there is some kind of misconfigured server problem "hiding" the Mozilla pinball versions.

Points:
- Even if Pinball were to be no longer updated, mozdeve would probably keep listing older builds. It has in the past for abandoned themes. Also, older builds for Phoenix/Firebird/Firefox have disappeared too.

- A couple days ago, right after installing the fresh-out-of-the-presses final build of Mozilla 1.7, Pinball was still listed as available -- not only that, but it listed the old January build as compatible with 1.7 (I installed it and it worked fine, by the way)

- Actually, there IS new build of Mozilla. Johannes has done a fine job as usual. I'm especially grateful for him finally adding support for Enigmail -- it used to look ugly, now Enigmail is as beautiful as the rest of Mozilla. Johannes' web address (non-clickable, you will have to copy & paste it) is on comment #57 above.

It will probably to take a couple days for the mozdev people to fix whatever is wrong with the Pinball page. But be assured that we are not orphans.

Haiducas: I have been using Pinball together with Multizilla for a very long time. They work fine together, although the iconsets aren't aestethically similar. But then, most themes will have the same problem with Multizilla (including the standard ones).

I'm not the only one who uses both together; have a look at the last line on the posts and see how many people (Pinball users, I presume, since they are posting here) have "Multizilla" in the user-agent string.

Maybe you are having incompatibility problems with a particular combination of Mozilla/Multizilla/Pinball versions. (I notice that you are apparently using Mozilla 1.5; HJ recommends using the latest version with Multizilla) Try to go for a "clean" install:

- Change your theme to either "Classic" or "Modern"
- Uninstall Mozilla
- Rename/delete the "mozilla.org" folder under "Program Files"
- Rename/delete the "chrome" folder in your Mozilla profile (under Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\[random string])
- Install Mozilla 1.7 Final. It should recognize and use your current settings, bookmarks and mail archives.
- Reinstall Multizilla from its page on mozdev
- Reinstall Pinball from Johannes' page on the link #57 above.

By request of the author, the original Pinball seamonkey theme has been removed from the mozdev.org host. However, this theme is still very much available at Johannes' website, listed here:

I see URLs are not displayed. Anyway, click the navigation link above labeled, More Themes!, to see the list.

The version for Suite 1.8b1 sort of works for Suite 1.8b2, but there is no icon for the bookmarks menu, the navigation buttons are offset too high, the pictures-only option doesn't seem to have any effect, and the stop button's image is broken (the button is still functional, however).

Any chance of a new version?
